THE RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE HIGH HALL SYNDICATE ON THE RIVER ALLEN

  • Your membership allows fishing from 1/4/25 to 14/10/25, 7 days per week, although we ask that you don’t deliberately target grayling until 16th June.
  • Grayling fishing can continue until 31/12/25 and pike maybe targeted at any time in the coarse fishing season.
  • Between 14/10/25 and 31/12/25 please wade carefully so as not to disturb redds and if possible, fish from the bank
  • You may bring five guests free of charge on five separate occasions, i.e. no more than one guest at a time.
  • Barbless hooks and catch and release, except for pike, which may be taken.
  • We are relaxed on techniques provided it is fly only and cast upstream (someone had a very nice fish on a streamer last year!).  Two fly, “clink and dink” tactics are acceptable but no more than two flies.

1. Please refer to your map as to where you can fish. The season opens on 1st April and finishes on 30th September.

2. Dry fly fishing only. Up- stream nymph (incl. bead head nymph) fishing allowed but wet fly and downstream fishing prohibited. Barbless or flattened barb hooks must be used.

3. An EA fishing licence is required for members and their guests.

4. Following the decision not to stock, a member may take home 2 or 3 trout in a season but is requested to return larger fish over 14 inches as they are the prime breeding stock.

5. Wading is permitted, but anyone who intends to enter the water, having

fished anywhere else must ensure that waders, nets and other equipment are

both clean and dry . This is to protect the river’s rare, or possibly extinct,

native crayfish from disease.

6. Non –members may fish if:

a) A friend of the member, when they may share a rod and must remain near

to each other.

b) Both the immediate family of and staying with the member : when may

fish unaccompanied as that member’s rod.

c) A guest who must be accompanied by the member and remain within a

reasonable distance. On no more than 5 occasions per season may a
